Rules

Kata Procedure:

  1. Two competitors will enter the ring at the same time, with the “red” competitor on the left side facing the head table and the “blue” competitor on the right side.
  2. They will perform their kata at the same time when indicated by the head ref that they may start
  3. After they perform, they will stand in a ready position until the judges determine the winner
  4. The 5 judges on the signal from the head judge will raise either a red or blue flag indicating who they think performed a better kata,
  5. The head judge will then indicate who the winner was that had the most flags in their favor
  6. The competitors will then exit the ring and the winning competitor will go to the head table to confirm that the correct name was moved forward and to confirm what color they will be next (red or blue)
  7. The matches will continue until the gold and silver match has been determined
  8. Any competitor who lost to either of the people going into the gold and silver matches will then prepare to compete in the repechage rounds,
  9. The repechage rounds will only be for any competitors who lost to one of the gold/silver finalists
  10. They will compete in rounds against each other to determine the third and forth place competitors
  11. After that has been determined, the final gold/silver match will take place
  12. Medal will be awarded

Kumite Procedure:

  1. All competitors will wear appropriate safety equipment, that will be checked by the referee
  2. All matches will be as indicated in the KBC rules matrix as to the time limit, point total etc.
  3. All contact and other penalties will be as per KBC adjustments
  4. The competitors will enter the ring bowing appropriately and follow the directions of the referee,
  5. When the match is over the competitors will then exit the ring and the winning competitor will go to the head table to confirm that the correct name was moved forward and to confirm what color they will be next (red or blue)
  6. The matches will continue until the gold and silver match has been determined
  7. Any competitor who lost to either of the people going into the gold and silver matches will then prepare to compete in the repechage rounds,
  8. The repechage rounds will only be for any competitors who lost to one of the gold/silver finalists
  9. They will compete in rounds against each other to determine the third and forth place competitors
  10. After that has been determined, the final gold/silver match will take place
